P1 and P2 start on the whistle. P1 stays along the wall as P2 tries to angle and squeeze off P1 into the wall to separate P1 from the puck. The player with the puck possession after the blue line gets a scoring chance. To start, P1 must go down the wall. After a few repetitions, P1 will have the option of cutting inside at the blue line if P2 has not angled correctly.
Key points
Start at 3/4 speed and progress to full speed as players become used to speed and contact. Defending player should lead with his stick, with a stick on the ice looking to contact the puck while making body contact along the wall. Defender looks to keep inside shoulder slightly inside the puck carrier’s shoulder to angle to the wall. If the defender is too far ahead, the attacker will be able to cut inside.
