Big Dog 2v1 (Ringette)

Back to free drills

Description

Set up players in both low corners and at both blue lines. The first two players to race should set up on either side of the goal with one skate touching the goal line. Coach starts play by sliding a ring out into middle ice to start the 1v1 race. The player that wins the race makes a quick turn out past the blue line then passes over the blue line into the quiet zone to start 2v1. Play out to the whistle. Players must then rotate positions from both sides so that it is not always the same players sprinting.

Key points

Sprint starts. Player that is first to the ring move slightly in front of the other player to protect the ring while picking it up. Good timing by player at blue line to cross over the blue line into the quiet zone to be in good position to receive the entry pass. Variation: Have weak side player jump in to defend 2v2.
