Defenders line up beside the goal crease below the goal line with one defender in front of the net on the edge of the goal crease. On the whistle, F1 moves across the ringette line and passes to F2. F2 times her skating speed so she takes the ring close to the ringette line. D1 steps up, pivots around the pylon, and attacks F2 forcing her outside of the triangle.

D1 tries to force the ring carrier wide, outside of the good ice. D is working on stepping up, making a quick pivot then angling the attacker wide, outside. F2 may do whatever she wants to get to the net but must stay on her half of the ice. After a few repetitions change sides to work pivoting in the other direction.
